Note: This kit doesn not come with the electronics. See related items to get that!
This is a kit to build a pinch wheel based plastic extruder. What does that mean? This guy is the 'printhead' for your MakerBot that builds things with plastic. It has a beefy motor, and works really, really well. This is also the same extruder that you would use for a RepRap machine and was developed by us as a part of the RepRap project.
This kit includes:
* Clear Lasercut Acrylic pieces. You can see it work!
* Heater Barrel / Thermal insulator / Nozzle
* Nichrome heating element
* Thermistor for measuring temperature
* Big, strong DC motor for driving the filament
* Nice aluminum pinch wheel pulley gear for driving filament
* Nuts and bolts for assembling the whole unit
* Insulating ceramic tape
* Skate bearing to make things smooth
* A roll of Kapton tape for the heater barrel.
* A measuring rod for precise pinch gap.
* Incorporates the improvements made in the MK3 upgrade kit.
In addition to the kit, you'll need about one foot of insulated wire, a soldering iron, and solder to build the Plastruder MK4. (Don't panic if you're not an ace solderer-- there are only four easy joints to solder!)
